The next morning Archie Connor and Willie Dix. two Borrowdale young men, took ropes. climbed to the top of Gate Crag, and Connor lowered Dixon down the precipitous crag face to the hounds. Dixon standing on the narrow ledge, coupled the hounds to a rope and Connor drew them up.
